Good morning! We start this Saturday morning off, with temperatures in the middle and 20's across the region. We'll have some clouds around this morning and eventually giving way to sunny skies, with high temperatures around 50 to lower 50's.
Sunday will feature sunny skies. We'll see a push of warmer air ahead of our next weather maker. High temperatures reaching the upper 50's to lower 60's.
Rain is likely during the day on Monday, as a strong arctic cold front approaches the region from the northwest. As we head into Monday evening, the ECMWF changes that rain to a mix for a brief period, before going over to all snow. Will we see any accumulations? A nywhere from a dusting to a light accumulation will be possible, if this model verifies.
The GFS model also shows the potential for a dusting to a light accumulation. The 06z run of the GFS is further south with the snow potential. The GFS has been going back and forth, with the placement of the snow.
The 18z run of the GFS, was much further north with the snow potential. As mentioned, it has been back and forth with overall placement.
The bigger story remains to be the coldest air of the season moving in behind the front. Monday will feature temperatures plummeting to around 30 by early to mid evening.
It will feel bitter cold on Tuesday, with highs struggling to get out of the middle 20's.
Northwest winds gusting to 25 mph at times, will create a bitter cold wind chill in the middle teens across the coverage area.
I hope everyone is ready for the cold arctic air! Concerning the snow talk, it does not look like a big deal for the Tri-State and remainder of the coverage area. But anytime we get the first snowfall, even if it is minor, it can cause some issues on area roads. That becomes a big deal as always.
That's going to do it for this forecast blog. Have a great morning!
