Strong Storms Possible Monday. Much Colder And Possibly The First Flakes To Close Out The Month!

Good Saturday Morning to everyone out there! Another beautiful day is setting up across the region. Expecting mainly sunny skies to start the day. Some clouds move in this afternoon, but still pleasant and rain free. High temperatures will be in the lower to middle 70's across the coverage area.

We are watching another strong cold front makes its way towards the region Monday Afternoon and Monday night. this system will be the focal point for the development of showers and thunderstorms across the southern Illinois, southern Indiana, western, north and south central Kentucky. Some stronger storms may produce locally heavy rainfall, which could lead to some localized flooding.

The Storm Prediction Center has much of the coverage area in a MARGINAL RISK for isolated severe thunderstorms Monday morning into Monday afternoon. This does include both the Evansville and Louisville Metro area's. Damaging winds the main potential hazard. An isolated spin up tornado or two can't be ruled out with this setup. Any convection that can get going out ahead of the main line, will tend to serve as a limiting factor for strong to possibly severe storms, as they advance east into southwest Indiana and Northwest and south central Kentucky. This is all subject to change, as new data becomes available.

The NCEP WPC rainfall totals of around an in to an inch and a half around possible, with isolated locally higher amounts possible, with stronger storms.

Cooler air moves in behind the front. Some data keeps our region in the upper 50's to 60 for Tuesday, while other models lower our highs to the mid 60's. We'll see how much cool air moves in behind the front in later model runs.

Looking ahead to the latter part of the month, as we get closer to Halloween. Models are still on board with some much colder air. Even some hints of the first flakes of the season. Perhaps an early winter? Well, at least hints of it anyway! Definitely an active and interesting pattern setting up. Eye candy for now, but something to watch as we head deeper into autumn.

Well, that's gonna do it for this update. As always, follow Metro Weather Watch daily, for accurate and dependable updates for southern illinois, southern Indiana, western , northern and south central Kentucky! Like us on our Facebook page if you haven't already done so. Have a great day!
