Wet Weekend Ahead And Much Cooler Temps Next Week? Snow Showers Or Flurries For Halloween?

Good evening! Hope everyone is having a great Tuesday evening. We are wrapping up a breezy and cooler day, where we saw temperatures only reach lower to middle 60's across the coverage area this afternoon.

Clear and cool temperatures expected overnight tonight, with lows reaching the upper 30's to lower 40's.

Sunny skies will prevail on Wednesday. Warmer and breezy, with highs in the mid to upper 60's.

The latest 6-10 Day Outlook from the Climate Prediction Center is showing about a 50% chance for below normal temperatures and the data certainly points in that direction, which will see in another portion of this blog.

Precipitation probabilities have a 30%-40% chance of being above normal.

The upcoming weekend has the potential to be on the wet side. The GFS is currently not on board with other models in terms of significant rainfall amounts. GFS is currently showing very light amounts Saturday into Sunday. I do think GFS will jump on board with the other models.

The GEM (Canadian model) gives parts of the region some heavy rainfall during the afternoon on Saturday.

The ICON model brings a more significant and widespread heavy rainfall event in to southern Illinois, southwest Indiana and western Kentucky during the day on Saturday.

The EPS brings a significant amount of moisture streaming in from the Gulf of Mexico. This is one solution we are certainly watching.

Looking ahead to the week of Halloween, if the GFS were to verify, high temperatures during the week of Halloween would be mainly around 50. Low to mid 40's for Halloween. Lows getting down into the 20's and 30's as week get closer to Halloween.

What about potential snow chances? The GFS has hinted at some flurries or snow showers from time to time in different model runs around Halloween. Nothing is certain this far out. This particular model is snow free for the Lower Ohio Valley. Note....This is not a forecast. Just an explanation of what some model runs have shown, concerning snow.

That's gonna do it for today's blog. If you are enjoying these blogs, let us know by leaving a comment or clicking on the heart in the heart icon, that's on the lower right side at the bottom of the blog. Have a great evening!
